Skin Needling

Skin Needling is a minimally invasive treatment that is very effective for improving fine lines and wrinkles, scarring (including acne scarring), enlarged pores, uneven skin tone and poor complexion. Skin Needling helps encourage the regeneration of elastin and collagen through the natural wound healing response of the skin. The outcome for you is a more uniform and smoother skin surface.

How does Skin Needling feel?

1. Sensation of Pressure: During the procedure, you may feel a sensation of pressure as the device is gently pressed against your skin. This pressure is necessary for the needles to penetrate the skin to the desired depth.

2. Mild Discomfort: Some individuals may experience mild discomfort or a prickling sensation as the needles make contact with the skin. However, most people tolerate the procedure well, especially when a topical numbing cream is applied beforehand to minimize any discomfort.

3. Slight Tingling or Stinging: As the needles create micro-injuries, you may feel a slight tingling or stinging sensation, particularly in more sensitive areas of the skin. This sensation is usually temporary and diminishes quickly after the treatment.

4. Heat Sensation: In some cases, you may experience a mild heat sensation, especially if the skin becomes slightly inflamed during the procedure. This is a normal response as the body’s natural healing process is initiated.

5. Overall Tolerable: Despite these sensations, many individuals find skin needling to be tolerable and even relatively comfortable, especially when performed by a trained professional using appropriate techniques and numbing agents.

It’s important to communicate any discomfort or concerns with your skincare professional during the procedure to ensure your comfort and safety. Additionally, following proper aftercare instructions can help minimize any post-treatment discomfort and optimize the results of the procedure.

How often can I do Skin Needling & how many session do I need?

You can typically undergo skin needling treatments every 4-6 weeks and followed by maintenance treatments every 2-3 months. Most clients require a program of 4 to 6 treatments for optimal results. Your consultation is where we will discuss the specific outcomes that you are after.

What can I expect from Skin Needling?

After each treatment some people feel a slight warmness of the face, however, a cooling agent is not required.  Most clients experience redness, similar to a mild sunburn, for 1-3 days.  Minor pinpoint bleeding is also noticeable immediately after the treatment. We advise clients to not apply mineral makeup in the first 24 hours.  During the consultation, we will recommend a post-treatment skincare product to assist in accelerating your skin needling results.

Improvement can begin to be noticed in as little as 14 days, with deeper skin issues beginning to improve in 2-4 weeks. Most dramatic improvements occur between 6-12 weeks after the treatment.

Do & Don't for Skin Needling

Do:

1. Consult a Professional: Always seek treatment from a qualified skincare professional or dermatologist experienced in skin needling.

2. Follow Aftercare Instructions: Adhere to the aftercare regimen provided by your skincare professional, which may include gentle cleansing, moisturizing, and avoiding sun exposure.

3. Use Sunscreen: Protect your skin from sun exposure by applying sunscreen daily, especially in the days following the treatment.

4. Keep Skin Hydrated: Maintain skin hydration by drinking plenty of water and using hydrating skincare products as recommended.

5. Communicate Concerns: If you experience any unexpected side effects or discomfort during or after treatment, communicate with your skincare professional promptly.

Don’t:

1. Perform at Home: Avoid attempting skin needling at home without proper training and equipment, as it can lead to complications and potential harm to the skin.

2. Use Harsh Products: Refrain from using harsh skincare products, such as exfoliants or acids, immediately before or after skin needling, as they may irritate the skin.

3. Expose to Sun: Avoid direct sun exposure for a few days following the treatment, as the skin may be more sensitive to sunlight.

4. Overdo Treatments: Resist the urge to undergo skin needling too frequently or excessively, as this can lead to skin irritation, inflammation, or damage.

5. Touch or Pick: Refrain from touching or picking at the treated area, as this can interfere with the healing process and increase the risk of infection or scarring.
